Recognitions for 9-1-1 National Telecommunicator Week April 12-18, 2026
Date/Time: Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM
Location: Royal Receptions Ballroom, 2101 Lomas del Sur Blvd., Laredo, Texas 78046
Emergency Telecommunicators, also known as 9-1-1 operators, stand ready at all times - day or night - to answer the call when an emergency arises. This critical service, available to everyone, depends on a well-coordinated operation supported by strong leadership and effective management to ensure consistent and reliable performance. These operations, known within the industry as Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs), rely on the dedication of skilled Telecommunicators, supervisors, and administrative personnel. Working in partnership with the 9-1-1 Regional Administration for South Texas, they form the backbone of emergency response services across our communities. As the 9-1-1 Regional Administrator for this area, the City of Laredo is proud to recognize the outstanding personnel from local and regional PSAPs during this special ceremony. This event will also honor excellence in the profession by highlighting the Telecommunicator of the Year, celebrating those who exemplify the highest standards of service, commitment, and professionalism.
In addition, we will proudly recognize a 9-1-1Kid Hero - an exceptional young individual who demonstrated extraordinary courage and composure by providing vital information to 9-1-1 Telecommunicators and carefully following the instructions given during an emergency. This recognition highlights the importance of public awareness and the powerful role even our youngest community members can play in saving lives.
